Aviation
One of the most important environmental considerations surrounding airports and aerodromes is noise. There are multiple different source types associated with airports, depending on their size, to add to the complexity of the issue.
Noise from aircraft on the ground and in the air, noise from ground transportation access to the airport, noise from static mechanical plant, and construction noise are typical considerations when dealing with airports. Aviation noise in the UK also has its own specific policy documentation, highlighting the importance of the issue.
Ben Holcombe and Vernon Cole lead on our aviation noise projects. They both have considerable experience in the field of aviation noise, providing consultancy for airports, local authorities, developers and local residents.
Suono staff regularly undertake the following:
- Expert review of noise documentation.
- Expert witness attendance, including at tribunals, Development Consent Order (DCO) hearings, and planning inquiries and committees.
- Noise modelling, including industry-standard AEDT software and Suono-developed analysis tools.
- Noise monitoring, including reporting on the 92-day summer period.
Suono also have capability and experience in other areas of acoustic consultancy relevant to aviation, such as the acoustic design of airport terminals and ancillary facilities.
